About Coach Brian Johnson
In my 20+ years of professional experience as a baseball player, scout, and coach, I have had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest minds that baseball has to offer. My father, Lamar Johnson, was first baseman for the Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers, from 1974 - 1982.
My baseball career started at Martin High School in Arlington, TX. I went on to play college baseball at Grambling State University before signing a professional contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. In the following year, I was a member of the Helena Brewers, who won the Pioneer League championship.
After my playing career, I spent 11 years as a Major League Baseball Scout for the Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, and Houston Astros. During this time, I signed four players that would go on to play at the Major League level - including JJ Hardy (two time all-star), Dennis Sarfate, and Chris Saenz. I also played a role in acquiring three MLB players via trades and other acquisitions. After my time as MLB scout, I won a Collegiate Sunbelt League championship as a head coach, and coached six years at the high school level.
In addition, I have more than twenty years of experience doing one-on-one hitting, fielding, and pitching lessons for both softball and baseball.
